Changes to PCV Licence Renewals

The introduction of the 3rd EU Driving Licence directive has slightly altered the renewal arrangements for PCV licence holders. One of the aims of the directive is to ensure 5-year licences are issued to all PCV licence holders.
The UK already had a 5-yearly entitlement renewal scheme in place for drivers aged 45 and over and felt that it should align the driving licence photo card with the category entitlement renewal dates as soon as possible. This will result in drivers being issued with 5 year licence card showing the same expiry dates for both the photo card and the CAT D/D1 entitlement.
